We are pleased to inform you that the Cootehill area development group commissioned Galetech Energy Services (GES) to conduct a comprehensive feasibility report on the options to implement an anaerobic digestion plant in the Cootehill area. An important initiative, which aims to explore sustainable waste management and renewable energy generation for the Cootehill area. The final report was delivered, and a presentation was held in the Cootehill Business Hub summarising the results.

Anaerobic digestion is a proven technology that utilises organic waste materials, such as food waste, agricultural residue, and other biomass, to produce biogas/biomethane and nutrient-rich biofertilisers. This process not only provides a sustainable solution for waste management but also offers significant environmental and economic benefits.

GES assessed various factors such as waste availability, logistical considerations, technological requirements, environmental impacts, economic viability, and community engagement. The report will serve as a valuable tool for decision-makers, enabling them to make informed choices regarding the implementation of anaerobic digestion projects.
